1. Wa Series Standings!

We're now halfway through the series and have new leaders. Chris Twardzik is the men's overall leader and Olytrailrunner Kris Ryding is the overall leader for the women. Click on 2009 Results to check out the full results and age group leaders. Next race is the Lake Young's speed fest on June 13th, bring your track shoes, this will be your 50K pr!

2. Oregon Ultra Series!

With 3 of the 7 races completed, the mens overall belongs to Lanny Gower and Cheri Redwine is leading the women just a couple of points ahead of Kate Merrill. The next race in the series is the SOB 50K on July 11th.

3. Wilderness Woes!

We have an urban park in Olympia with about 5 miles of great single tract amongst tall firs. We run there every thursday year around, even though there are signs posted "No Jogging". When I approached the city about hosting a trail run, they were flabbergasted! "This is an urban wilderness area, we can't have people running through there!". Well, they are going alittle overboard, but when the feds designate a new wilderness area in the mountains, that is serious stuff that will preserve our beloved forests for future generations. So it's a bummer losing the opportunity to race up to Mt Hood, but in the long run, we can still enjoy slogging up that sand hill on our own, and the PCT 50 miler will live on, after all, a race is about people, and there is no greater group of people than ultra runners, where-ever the RD's send us!
