The CourseThe course is a loop with about a 4 mile out-n-back to the top of Capitol Peak. We'll start from Falls Creek, hang a left on Mima Porter #8, head uphill to trail #50, cut across to Greenline #6 , turn left on Greenline and head up hill. At the top of Greenline, turn right on the road and follow the road through the closed yellow gate up the steep road section to the top of Capitol Peak, tag the chain link fence surrounding the phone towers(I don't think it's electrified), then head back down the road to the top of Greenline and follow the Greenline trail all the way down to the finish at Falls Creek. (Course maps will be available at the start.)
DirectionsFrom Olympia to the start finish area is an additional 40-45 minutes. From Interstate 5 at Olympia, take Exit #104 and follow U.S. Highway 101 west for 2 miles. Take the West Olympia, Black Lake exit and head south on Black Lake Boulevard. Go 4 miles to a T intersection. Take a left on Delphi Road, and travel approximately 2 miles to Wadell Creek Road. Take a right on Wadell Creek Road and travel approximately 3 miles to Sherman Valley Road. Continue straight on Sherman Valley Road for 1.4 miles to a split. Go left on C-Line forest road (a winding partially paved/gravel road). Stay on C-Line forest road for about 3 miles to C-6000. Take a left on C-6000 and travel about 2 1/2 miles to the Falls Creek Day Use Area.Parking Instructions: Parking is limited at the start/finish area, you may have to park on the side of the road. Car pooling is recommended and the Top Foods grocery or Barnes and Nobles shopping center (off of Black Lake Blvd) in West Olympia, which are two convenient meeting locations. The road up to the start is a windy and gravelly road. Car pooling will reduce congestion in the start/finish area.
